INDIA – Quest for the Tiger
India has it all! UNESCO World Heritage sites, iconic game parks, the spectacular Taj Mahal, and… tigers! On our adventure in India, you will have several chances to visit ancient temples as we move from park to park.
Bandhavgarh is a magnificent park in a setting of mountainous escarpment and sal tree forests. The park is full of exotic birds and wildlife. Indian rollers are 20% larger that their African cousins. There are parakeets and parrots of all sizes and colors. Lesser adjutants patrol the grasslands and birds of prey circle the sky.
Some of the animals you will see in Bandhavgarh include blue bulls, several antelope species, jackals, Indian wild dogs, and tigers!
Kanha is our next destination and will provide us with great chances to photograph not only tigers, but sloth bear, barasingha, spotted deer, and Indian Bison. The biggest antelope, the samba, is in Kanha, as are the black buck, barking deer, jungle cat, and leopard.
With all this wildlife diversity and the setting, it’s not hard to imagine Rudyard Kippling using Kanha as the setting for the Jungle Book.
Our third tiger park is Pench. Everything about Pench seems a little bigger. The meadows are vast the forest trees are huge, the spotted deer have bigger horns, and the tigers are huge!! The wildlife you will see and photograph on this adventure is amazing.
